What is K460 tool steel?
Böhler K460 is a cold work tool steel with high carbon, medium chromium and tungsten (corresponding to German grade 1.2510, equivalent to EN/DIN 100MnCrW4 / ASTM O1). It incorporates tungsten into its structure to enhance its resistance to abrasive wear while maintaining excellent toughness and low deformation quenching characteristics. Its heat treatment process is simple: low-temperature quenching followed by one tempering is sufficient, making it suitable for cost-sensitive applications where moderate wear resistance is required.
