Common Traits
High hardenability allows uniform hardness (40–52 HRC) across thick sections, supported by alloying elements like Cr (enhancing wear resistance), Ni (boosting toughness), and Mo/V (refining grain structure and preventing temper softening).Fine, uniform microstructures from controlled melting (e.g., ESR) reduce carbide segregation, improving isotropic mechanical properties (e.g., transverse impact resistance).
Distinct Properties
1.2713 (German standard): Offers excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to thermal cracking, ideal for moderate-load dies.
5CrNiMo (Chinese standard): Classic hot forging die steel with stable performance in medium-temperature environments, combining low thermal expansion with reliable ductility.
AISI L6 ( American standard): Features higher Ni content (~3.5%), enhancing toughness for shock-loading scenarios while maintaining good hardenability.
