These steels belong to the chromium-nickel-molybdenum (Cr-Ni-Mo) family, renowned for balancing thermal strength, toughness, and  thermal fatigue resistance in high-temperature applications.

Common Traits

High hardenability allows uniform hardness (40–52 HRC) across thick sections, supported by alloying elements like Cr (enhancing wear resistance), Ni (boosting toughness), and Mo/V (refining grain structure and preventing temper softening).Fine, uniform microstructures from controlled melting (e.g., ESR) reduce carbide segregation, improving isotropic mechanical properties (e.g., transverse impact resistance).

Distinct Properties

1.2713 (German standard): Offers excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to thermal cracking, ideal for moderate-load dies.
