JIS
JIS stands for Japanese Industrial Standard, which was developed by the Japan Industrial Standards Committee (JISC), and is the national industrial standards system of Japan, covering a wide range of fields such as iron and steel, machinery, and chemicals.
In the field of tool steel and mould steel, the JIS standard provides a unified naming rule for grades:
Grade structure: usually consists of three parts, for example, the prefix “S” for steel (Steel), the second part of the letter indicates the use (such as “K” for tool steel, “D” for mould steel), the third part of the number to distinguish between the specific type or performance (such as SKD11 for cold work mould steel, SKH51 for high-speed tool steel); Application: including carbon steel, SKH51 for high speed tool steel );
Application: including carbon tool steel (SK series), alloy tool steel (SKS/SKD/SKT series), high-speed tool steel (SKH series), etc., widely used in the manufacture of moulds, punches, cutting tools, etc..
